To compress the output file can either use DOC compression or the recommended ZLIB compression. ZLIB gives better compression, but requires requires Palm OS® 3.1 or higher, as well as installation of the zlib library onto the handheld. DOC compression is available to be used on Palm® devices with OS versions earlier to Palm OS® 3.1. You can install the ZLIB library onto the handheld at any time via the Install Handheld Software Wizard
Only compress images that are larger than species the mimimum file size that a retrieved file needs to be, in order for that retrieved file to be compressed. If it is larger than the filesize it is compressed, otherwise it remains uncompressed. Uncompressed images are displayed more quickly in the viewer.
Specify the category in which to list the channel in the viewer's library automatically files the channel inside a category. Otherwise, the channel will be placed into the Unfiled category.
Power user tip: You can specify multiple categories, by entering in multiple categories, separated by semicolons.
Include the original URL of each page in the output file allows the URL of each spidered page to be read inside the viewer. Removing the original URL makes the output file slightly smaller, and is most useful for an e-book, or to protect a private URL or file location. To read the original URL of a page in the Viewer, from the menu, choose View > Details... and read the URL text.
Specify a security 'owner ID' password needed to open the output file provides basic file protection. The output file can only be read on a handheld device with a username that matches this owner ID. For example if you entered a owner ID of John Doe then it could only be read on a device that has a user name of John Doe.
Allow the channel output to be beamed among handhelds allows the outputted file to be beamed among the handhelds of Plucker users.
Signal backup bit backs up the outputted file on the desktop computer. Then, if for some reason, the handheld memory is erased, the outputted file can be restored from the desktop, with all its bookmarks intact.
The channel can be directly started from an icon in the handheld's main launcher places an icon in the handheld's main screen showing the list of installed programs. Clicking on that icon starts that channel directly, instead of having to start the Plucker Viewer application and then choosing the channel from the viewer's Library listing.
A default Plucker channel icon is used for launchable channels. This icon can be replaced with custom icons. The Replace default large icon with a custom icon and the Replace default small icon with a custom icon fields allow both the large and small icons to be replaced. The large icon should be an image on a canvas sized 32 pixels wide x 32 pixels high, but with the visible icon confined to the upper 32 pixels wide x 19 pixels high region of the canvas. The small icon should be 15 pixels wide x 9 pixels high, and can fill up the entire canvas. Incorrectly sized icons will be stretched to fit. Icons should be black-and-white color depth. If they are not black-and-white, they will be converted to black-and-white, but the dithering won't be as good as if you made them in black-and-white yourself. You can use icons in .bmp, .gif, or .png format (they will get converted automatically to the correct format for inclusion as a Palm icon).
Power user tip: You could also use a .jpg file for the icon, though in practice, you rarely want a jpg as an icon. The .bmp, .gif, .png, or .jpg all get converted to TBmp format, which is the image format used by Palm--you can thus also thus choose to use a TBmp image directly.
