If you start Plucker Desktop without any commandline arguments, then the application will start in the normal GUI manner.
However, if you start Plucker Desktop with commandline arguments, it will do the specified action and then automatically terminate when you are finished. The commandline version requires the OS's window manager to already be running (for example, Gnome, KDE, or Windows is running).
Beginner tip: You can specify how you want to view progress, and whether you want to automatically close on exit via the Preferences Dialog Spidering Tab . If you choose not to close on exit, then the program will wait for your interaction before it terminates; this allows you to inspect the log files, for example.
You should first set up your desired options in the GUI desktop. Then you can proceed do a desired action via the commandline.
There are 3 actions you can do: update selected channels, update due channels, or update all channels. These actions are equivalent to their respective toolbar button actions on the Main Dialog .
Beginner tip: On Mac OSX, the commandline version needs to be invoked with the full path, since it needs to find the resources at runtime, for example type: /Applications/Plucker.app/Contents/MacOS/plucker-desktop --update-due.
